The Truly Scrumptious Catering Van

From snack bars and cafes to cocktail bars and photobooths, the iconic classic VW campers aren’t just for travelling and festivals anymore.

One lady from Chester, inspired by the beloved camper and all it’s beauty decided to buy one and set up a business in Cheshire called ‘Truly Scrumptious Catering Van’. The little camper now attends weddings, parties, corporate events, food fairs, festivals and so much more. She’s been given the name ‘Truly’ and is the sweetest colour in powder blue and cream.

“A couple of years ago I saw a horsebox at a local carnival that had been converted into a bar. It looked great and I wondered if I could do something similar and combine it with my love of ice cream and cakes” Emma said.

The right-hand drive, T2 bay window van already lived in the UK but moved to Chester. It has 22,000 miles on the clock and the engine works like a dream (albeit a bit noisier and slower than most modern day cars).

Emma now works within a 40 mile radius of home in Chester and is kept busy with ‘Truly’. She has a 300 litre freezer on board with a serving hatch that displays 5 ice cream flavours. State of the art silent fridges means no noisy generator spoiling the tranquillity of any special day or event. If frozen down overnight the freezer stays cold so serving can go all day!

“I’ve always been a fan of VW Campers but knew as a family we wouldn’t use one to camp in. Couple this with my ambition to have my own business – and ‘Truly’ is a match made in ice cream heaven!”

The ice cream served on board is from award winning Snugburys ice cream farm in Cheshire. The taste is superior and the menu extensive – honeycomb, salted caramel, strawberry cheesecake, crème brulee – to name but a few.

2018 will also see cupcakes, brownies, meringues and cake-pops added to the menu (all supplied by a small local bakery in Chester)……

So if you’re out on your travels in Chester and you see Truly and Emma – give them both a wave!
